Shanghai-based Sinopacific Shipbuilding has signed a contract on Tuesday, July 17 with Slok Shipping Nigeria for the construction of four 3,700 tonnes platform supply vessels (PSVs), Sea Trade Asia reports.
The value of the contract has not yet been disclosed, however, the word is that it includes an option, which if exercised, would include construction of two additional PSVs of greater capacity.
With respect to the design of the four PSVs, they will form part of the Sinopacific’s SPP35 series of vessels. The overall length of the vessel covers 78.55 m and 17.20 m in mould breadth. The vessels are said to have the ability of developing a speed of 13 knots, having a 3,700 mt generator power.
The two larger scale PSVs would be constructed based on the SPP50 design.
At the moment, Sinopacific shipyard has 20 SPP50 style PSVs in its order book,
